Quietly located at the end of Greenport’s commercial strip you’ll find another newcomer to the towns restaurant scene, Stirling Sake, with large paned windows showcasing diners and its traditional Noren blowing in the entryway waving guests in. The simple, sparse, modern décor mimics the traditional Japanese cuisine, sushi, sashimi, rolls and noodles all carefully prepared and simply executed. But as the name suggests this is just not a Japanese sushi restaurant but a Sake tasting room with 25 varietals on the menu. If you’re a newbie to Sake drinking don’t be intimidated, co-owner Yuki Mori will be happy to suggest one to suit your palette.
