After years of shuttered doors…they’re back! Orient Linen has resurfaced with a summer pop-up store. Though some stock was low when we dropped in, we were promised more inventory was on its way of Janet Markarian’s famous quilts, pillows, aprons… the works. New additions to the shop are a collection of items from local crafts people and artisans. Jackie McKee, founder of Local Lure, is not only manning the store but also showing her collection of North Fork themed pillows, bags and cards. Other artists include ceramics by Dena Zemsky, hand carved folk art by Will Knoedler and clay figurines by Garance. They’re easy to find on Village Lane in Orient, and now easy to find open!
Our original post Summer 2009
In the village of Orient sits a tiny oasis of linen and cotton. Found amidst sewing machine and bobbins are beautiful throws, quilts, pillow shams, table linens, curtains and totes, all handmade and marked with the emblematic Orient Linen red rooster. With no phone number and no real set hours of operation, finding this gem open is part of its charm!
