Five Ways to Get Fit on the Fork

Your usual workout turns into the unusual here on the North Fork. With options like Yoga, SUP, Pilates and SURFSET®, all with a North Fork twist, you'll wonder how you'll ever go back to the usual again.

Photos by Joni Rentz1. Set on a grassy plain tucked within the rows of vines, Lieb Cellars offers a 60-minute yoga class led by Kripalu-certified instructor Emily Puccio. It's a total transcendental experience with the beautiful vineyard setting and the sounds of nature surrounding you. Your workout is followed by a yogi-friendly nosh, prepared by their in-house epicurean Alicia Valle, and topped off with a glass of Lieb Cellars wine. Thursdays at 4pm on Oregon Road in Cutchogue.

2. If a vineyard isn’t your thing how about Yoga on the Farm. Located at Sang Lee Farms in Peconic, know for their organic produce and now yoga. Here you’ll enjoy a 60-minute yoga session led by Carolyn Poncato, tailored for the beginner but perfect for all levels. Take in the serene surroundings, breathe in the smells of herbs and grass and after, enjoy a freshly prepared organic juice while taking an Ayurvedic walk through the herb garden. Thursdays at 7:30am.

4. The new trendy SURFSET® workout has found its way east to JABS NY in Cutchogue. Get in your cardio, strength and balance training all while on a custom made unstable surfboard planted on stable ground within their modern gym – JABS also offers a full body workout on the beach at Nassau Point. 5. Get out on the water with a Floating Yoga or SUP class from Adventure Paddleboards, located on the beautiful Mattituck Inlet in Mattituck. Your yoga class starts with a 15 minute warm up paddle, then, while anchored, you begin a 30 minute slow Vinyasa Flow. The finale, a paddle back to a relaxing savasana, while you float and watch the clouds drift by. Get out on the water with Stand Up Paddleboards. Their SUP classes are structured with the beginner in mind. First, begin with an onshore tutorial, then grab a board and paddle yourself around the beautiful Mattituck inlet.
